FROMM Packaging Australia sells a range of strap choppers which turns waste into a recyclable asset.
The Sweed strap chopper range includes machines designed for both low volumes of strapping waste, and the high volumes typically seen in traditional heavy industries.
Sweed Choppers are typically placed placed at the receiving area, allowing strapping to be removed from the product and chopped into pieces directly into a bulk bag or drum, ready for recycling. In industries where straps are wider and the waste volume is higher, Sweed's larger DX models are more suitable. These models can handle several lengths of strap simultaneously, improving efficiency.

RECYCLE YOUR USED PET STRAP
The FROMM strap recycling program is available to customers who lease or purchase a FROMM Strap Chopper. These machines can easily convert used strapping into recyclable pieces, reducing the material from bulky, hard to handle lengths into compact pieces that conveniently fit into 500 kg bulk bags.
Once the bulk bags are full of clean, colour sorted and uncontaminated chopped strap, they are despatched to a facility for reprocessing. There, the material is granulated and transformed into reusable resin. The recycled resin is subsequently used to manufacture a variety of products, including "hand grade" PET strapping for other markets.

Strap Choppers
FROMM strap choppers offer a few significant advantages. Firstly, they contribute to waste reduction by transforming long and bulky strapping waste into smaller, more manageable pieces, making recycling easier.
This supports sustainability efforts by simplifying the recycling process, allowing the strap material to be repurposed into new products.
Additionally, strap choppers enhance operational efficiency by reducing the need for manual handling of long straps, which not only improves worker safety but also reduces disposal costs.
Overall, strap choppers play a crucial role in promoting a more efficient and environmentally friendly approach to managing strapping waste.
The appropriate model depends on the volume and type of strapping waste you generate. Models designed for low to medium volume of strapping include the Sweed 300 and Sweed 450 DDX. Strap Choppers designed for high volumes of strapping waste such as in the timber, brick and tile industries may require larger model, such as the Sweed 510 XHD and Sweed 517 XHD which can process wider straps, and various materials more efficiently.
Once the straps are chopped, they are collected in bulk bags or drums and can be sent to recycling centres.
The chopped material is more compact and easier to manage, reducing storage and transportation costs.
