Orbital Wrapping Solution for an Aluminium window & door manufacturer
We recently partnered with an Australian owned and operated Aluminium joinery manufacturer, specialising in window and door frames. They were experiencing problems with the handling of frame stillages. The unbuilt aluminium frames were placed into a specially designed stillage and the product secured for both local and interstate transport. Frame Stillages are hard to package due to their design and shape, causing significant product damage and high product returns. FROMM Packaging worked with the customer to create a new packaging process and streamline a complex manual wrapping process.
FROMM Packaging Wrapping Solution
FROMM designed a spiral wrapping machine with a program modification that allowed the wrapping machine to stop as the stillage arm neared the stretch wrapping carriage. With the stretch film still applied, the wrapping machine was programmed to move the stillage forward, around the arm and then restart the wrapping function.
This new wrapping system has eliminated the complex hand wrapping process and associated WH&S issues. It has enabled one worker to focus on other tasks, and it has reduced the number of product returns received.
