Automatic Inline Turntable Pallet Wrapping System for the Distribution Industry
Client: Pick and pack logistics distributor
Industry: Warehouse & Distribution
Packaging solutions provided: Stretch wrapping line
Date of installation: April 2016
This distribution company had an existing conveyor line which passed through a semi-automatic wrapping station, requiring significant human interaction on the production floor. FROMM Australia conducted a full review of their process, taking into account human error and safety risks, with a view to automate the process where practical and possible.
FROMM Australia engineered an automatic turntable pallet wrapping machine capable of wrapping all of their pallets which varied in size weight and height. The machine allows the floor staff to be reassigned to other roles within the facility, as it only requires human intervention to change the film roll.
Engineered locally by the FROMM Packaging Australia team, the designs were then sent to FROMM’s global manufacturing centre where the machine was built and tested to strict quality assurance standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Once shipped to Australia, the installation was completed and operational in just three days.
The new wrapping machine was commissioned for under $65,000. The customer has reported they have a much higher product throughput, film savings of up to 50% per month which will equate to $10,000 per year, increased staff productivity and morale and better product presentation due to the even nature of the film being applied.
