Automatic Inline Strapping System for Timber Manufacturer
Our customer is Australia’s largest producers of sawn timber products and historically strapped timber by hand changing from steal to polyester. Once secured the product was sent for treatment. The process slow and cumbersome.
FROMM Packaging Solution
FROMM created a new faster process to not only strap the timber packs but automate the coil handling and coil storage due to heat & cold externally through the year. The customer was able to increase the footprint so the automated strapping process worked on the existing conveyors. FROMM added a custom built shed with insulation so super jumbo strapping coils could be kept in a suitable environment. The electrical cabinet which operates the machine and safety system was also stored inside this area.
To reduce downtime associated with the changing of the bearers, a simple rail system was added so the customer could reload the bearer pallets without a forklift getting near the protected area. A pick and place device selected the bearer and loaded it into the strapping station.
This project allowed for minimal human interaction whilst achieving customer needs for production and load security.
