Machines & Automation
Within the range of Sweed strap choppers, there are machines for low volumes of strapping waste or high volumes found in traditional heavy industry.
In the Food and Beverage and paper industries the Sweed Choppers are usually located at the receiving area so the strapping can be removed from the product and chopped into 75mm pieces straight into a bulk bag or drum for recycling. In timber, brick and tile Industries where the strap is wider and the waste higher, the larger DX models by Sweed are better suited so multiple pieces of steel or plastic strap can be chopped and processed at the same time.
By leasing or purchasing a FROMM strap chopper, our customers can process used strapping into recyclable pieces. These devices reduce the material from bulky hard to handle lengths into small pieces that fit into 500KG bulk bags.
In our programme, the bulk bags when full of clean and uncontaminated chopped strap are sent to our facility for reprocessing where the material is granulated and processed into reusable resin. The recycled resin is used to manufacture all sorts of items, including "hand grade" PET strapping for other markets. Click here to view our strap recycling program.

Moisture inside international shipping containers is an age old problem. Because of our location on the globe, much of Australia’s exports cross the equator, meaning high temperature, high humidity on the oceans of the world. Conditions at sea can create “container rain” inside shipping containers, which damages important export cargo.
Exclusive to FROMM Packaging Australia, Active Mineral MBD-99 desiccant protects your cargo from moisture contamination. Active Mineral MBD-99 Cargo Guard is specially formulated to lower the dewpoint inside shipping containers to guard against moisture damage whilst in transit.
The active mineral MBD 99 provides the following benefits:
